Treating Minor Cuts in Dogs Like the Bichon Frise

Do you own a canine companion like the Bichon? If so, you’re probably familiar with how much these little canines love to play. Both large and dogs play but the small ones seem to be especially good at running through the grass and pouncing in the dirt and soil and getting covered in mud. Playing rough and hard can cause little cuts and scrapes. If your dog gets hurt in a major way, call your vet. For minor cuts and scrapes, your vet may recommend that you gently clean the wound with warm or cool water. Cleaning solutions such as Vetericyn or even regular iodine or chlorhexine may also be used to clean the wound. Once the wound is clean you may then be told to pat it dry and apply a topical ointment such as Neosporin. These methods of treatment will most likely need to be done two to three times a day. Ask your vet Louisville KY for more tips.
