Managing Uncomplicated Vomiting in Dogs

Vomiting is the body’s natural protective reflex for getting rid of something unpleasant. If your dog is suddenly vomiting which occurs once or twice within the day, you should not feel worried about it, especially if your pet is active and looks well. What you need to do is to help your pet felt relieved. Do not give your pet food for a day to help soothe the upset stomach, but make sure to give your pet water. You should check if the water triggers vomiting. If not, after 24 hours, feed your dog with a bland diet composed of cooked white rice with boiled lean meat without any seasonings. Feed your pet, starting at small amounts, gradually increasing the dose every three hours. Continue to monitor your pet, and if there are no more vomiting episodes, your dog should be ready to eat normally. However, if you have a puppy, you should encourage your pup to eat to prevent it from having hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, resulting in loss of consciousness. In the case of old dogs, they may feel weak and as such, may need proper medical attention at your animal hospital Eau Claire WI.
