Your cat may experience an elevated blood sugar level and other health issues if she has diabetes. This disease is defined as a lack of the insulin hormone or the body’s inability to respond to it. Your cat can suffer from either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Male cats develop diabetes more frequently than female cats and age is a factor too. Keep your cat within normal weight limits since obesity can lead to diabetes. A change of appetite (too much or too little), weight loss and increased urination can be signs of diabetes. Your cat may also look unkempt from lack of grooming and she may seem lethargic.
