Winter Treated Walkways for Your American Bobtail Cat

Do you live in a place prone to winter storms or low temperatures? If so then you may find it hard to locate a place to walk with your cat. During the winter, roadways and sidewalks or walkways can freeze and become especially icy and unsafe to walk on. Walkways and sidewalks that have been treated with an ice-melting chemical are especially dangerous. The chemicals in the melt-away products are generally toxic and can cause damage to your cat’s paws. Walkways treated with non-toxic sand; however, are typically safe and non-threatening. If you’re not sure what the walkway is treated with, try to keep your American Bobtail from walking on it altogether or consider purchasing pet wipes to clean your cat’s paws when she comes back inside. Shoes may be another option for your cat. Check with your veterinarian Chesapeake, VA to learn additional ways to keep your cat’s paws clean and free of winter toxins.
