Should you see your dog being attacked by some other dog, keep calm. This allows you to assess the situation rationally and take measures to handle the situation. Should you see the fight yourself, try stopping the fight and keep the fighting animals away from each other while avoiding getting bitten or being injured yourself. Do not use bare arms or hands to do the separating. If one of the dogs is leashed, try pulling the leash back so you can put some distance between the animals as much as you can.
Even as a domesticated animal, your dog still retains his strong territorial nature. Dogs will not think twice in displaying aggression should they feel like there may be a possible threat looming around their territory. Aggression could also be induced if your pet dog is in a new park or is around something unfamiliar and strange. If a strange dog approaches his playthings, your dog could also display aggression.
Once you manage to separate the dogs, check yours for any injuries. Check for deep wounds and/or bite marks because injuries like these need immediate medical treatment so take your pet over to the nearest veterinary clinic Westminster, MD.
