Chinchillas make for wonderful pets. They are very friendly and love to be held, and they're also very easy to take care of. In fact, they're one of the easiest animals to keep as a pet! But what can you do if your chinchilla isn't acting right? How do you know if he's sick? What signs should you look for?
A healthy chinchilla should have clear eyes, clean fur, and a shiny coat. His ears should be clean and dry, and he should not have any discharge from his eyes or nose.
If your chinchilla is sick, his fur may be dull, dry, and matted. He might also have sores or scabs on his skin or around his eyes or ears. He may have a fever and feel hot to the touch. You may see signs of diarrhea or constipation in him as well as weight loss if he has been sick for some time.
If you have more questions or your little furry buddy is experiencing any of these signs, please don't hesitate to call us, your local vet clinic Ellicott City, MD today!
