Weepy Eyes in Cats Like the Persian

Cats and dogs alike tend to have watery or weepy eyes for a variety of reasons. If you notice your Persian or other breed cat is scratching at its eyes a lot or there appears to be watery or mucus draining from the eyes then give your vet a call. Weepy or watery eyes could be due to something as minor as common allergies or as major as a tumor in the eye. It’s best not to panic or self diagnose, but instead, schedule an exam for your cat with the vet. Clear discharge is often a sign of debris in the eye. Mucus discharge or colored gunk may indicate infection. Cats can also get pink eye. Infectious agents and viruses often cause eye problems in cats. If your cat is sick, please separate him from other acts in the home. Learn more here or call your animal hospital Dutchess County, NY.
