Urinary Tract Infection in Pets

Did you know that your cat and/or dog can get a UTI? A UTI is a Urinary Tract Infection and it’s not only common in people, but it’s also common in animals. If you suspect your dog or cat may have a UTI, ask yourself if you’ve seen any of the following symptoms: inability to urinate or passing small amounts at a time, blood in the urine, leaking of urine, frequent urination, increased water consumption, and fever. Definitely call your vet to schedule an exam if you’ve noticed any of these symptoms in your pet. Your vet can run a urinalysis and other necessary tests to determine the cause of the symptoms and to develop a treatment plan. UTIs can happen in any animal of any age, but some believe it often happen in older dogs and cats, dogs and cats with diabetes, or specific breeds of dogs and cats.
