Do you remember how often you have left food in your dog’s bowl for him to eat all day? This feeding method is called free-feeding. When dogs eat the same food left in their bowl all day, it might delight them initially, but in the long run, it can lead to undesirable harmful eating habits.
There are two types of free-feeding:
●Uncontrolled Free-Feeding – is when the food left in your dog’s bowl is unlimited, the dog gets to decide how much he can eat. Owners will refill the bowl constantly when the food runs out or is already minimal.
●Controlled Free-Feeding – is when the owner only leaves a specific amount of food for the dog to eat. When it’s all eaten, no more refills until the next meal. The quantity of food eaten by the dog is controlled by the owner.
