The Great Pyrenees Around Children And Other Pets

The Great Pyrenees are fond of children and will be devoted friends to them. They are willing to protect them even if it means risking their lives, and they tend to be tender around the weak and small. However, young children may find it hard to handle these large dogs on a leash. Pyrs should be accompanied by older kids or adults during outdoor walks.

Teach children the proper way of touching and approaching these dogs. Be sure to supervise every interaction between young kids and dogs to ensure that they won't offend or injure each other— always remember that regardless of the dog's friendliness, leaving dogs and kids unsupervised may be a mistake. Lastly, ensure that children understand that messing up a dog's sleep or food is unacceptable behavior. When it comes to other pets, Pyrs may do well, especially with those they grew up with. Proper socialization ensures that Pyrs get along well with their fellow pups.

Any sign of illness exhibited by your pet should require a visit to your veterinary hospital Fort Collins, CO for proper medical attention.
