Newfoundland puppies need special care. As a giant breed, they go through rapid growth at the age of 4-7 months. During this time, bone disorders are highly possible. They also age faster than smaller breeds, too.
Running/playing on hard surfaces should be avoided until the age of 2 years, and their joints are already developed. In the meantime, the grass may be an excellent playground. Puppy agility and one-inch jumps are also great. You may also let them swim to help them work their muscles without the risk of injuring their joints.
Begin training ASAP. Their eagerness to please makes training easy, but be sure to include leash training. Remember, these cute little pups will soon become 100-pound dogs, and you may want them to get accustomed to a leash. Getting them engaged in pup kindergarten, as well as obedience classes, is a great idea, too.
