The Siamese cat, also known as meezers, is one of the most popular feline breeds. Their most striking feature is their “points” brought about by recessive genes that result in the production of melanin pigment in cooler parts of the skin. The “points” are spots on their bodies that are darker in color and are can be found on their face, tail, ears, feet, and legs. The Siamese breed is one of the original feline breeds recognized by the Cat Fancier’s Association in 1906.
With their short hair coat, they do well with a weekly brushing to remove loose hairs and lessen the risk of hair ingestion that can eventually form hair balls. Regular nail trimming may be needed every 10 days or so, especially if your cat does not scratch as much. But it’s still a good idea to put up several scratching surfaces in places where your kitty loves to spend time in. They also love climbing and perching; having a cat tree or kitty condo will provide them the opportunity to engage in natural behaviors.
