Collars don't grow with your pet. Given that kittens grow fast, you need to check their collar more often and loosen it when necessary. Otherwise, the collar may grow into their neck, which can be very painful. Check your kitten's collar once a week until she's fully grown. And even when she's an adult, keep checking her collar frequently to ensure that it still fits properly and securely.
When your cat is wearing her collar, try to slide 2-3 fingers through it. Your fingers must fit into the collar. In time, cat-safe collars may become less elastic. Also, senior cats tend to lose weight as they get older. Ensure that your cat's collar isn't too loose to slip off of her. You may try using a break-away safety collar. It opens easily when it gets stuck onto something, which prevents it from strangling your kitty accidentally.
