Italian Greyhounds are generally smart, playful, and alert. They're affectionate around their families and will enjoy snuggling and sticking close to their owners all day. In contrast, they are generally shy and reserved around strangers.
Harsh treatment often makes these dogs snappy or fearful. As with their fellow hounds, Italian Greyhounds want something "beneficial" in return for cooperating in training. With that, it's best to use treats, praises, and plays to encourage your dog instead of giving him punishments for every wrong thing they do.
Often, harsh punishments lead to snappy/fearful behavior. It's best to provide them with their own dog door to let them go out/in whenever they want. These dogs can be trained to use litter boxes, but it isn't recommended if you own two or more Italian Greyhounds, as frequent cleaning may be needed in this case.
