Negative Effects Of Aleve (Naproxen) In Dogs

Aleve, or Naproxen, is one type of anti-inflammatory and non-steroidal drug (NSAIDs) also commercially sold as the brands Anaprox, Naprelan, and Naprosyn. When compared to the other available painkillers approved for canine use, this drug has higher potentials for developing side effects. Therefore, it is never advised to be used for canines for pain management. Naproxen’s safety margin is really small when compared to various other NSAIDs, and this means that the difference between an overdose and a safe dosage is really small. This is one other reason why Aleve must not be administered to your pet dog unless explicitly prescribed by your vet. If you are taking this drug, be vigilant in preventing your pet from accidentally swallowing this medication, so keep them where they cannot be accessed by your dog. If you drop a pill by accident, always pick it up whether your dog is around or not.

If your pet is showing any sign of adverse reaction or illness after taking medication, call your veterinary clinic London ON.
