Epilepsy is common in 20 to 40% of gerbils of all types including Argente Golden gerbils. Epileptic episodes will typically pass without the gerbil suffering from any lasting side effects. Talk to your vet if you are concerned that your Argente Golden gerbil may be having epileptic seizures. Epilepsy is generally defined as a disorder of the brain or nervous system that can cause animals to have sudden, uncontrollable seizures.
