Kuvaszok are working dogs, and they like to keep themselves occupied by watching over kids or livestock. Generally, they're gentle and playful around children. But while mature dogs are aware of their strength, puppies do not, and supervision is necessary when they're with children.
These active dogs do not thrive in apartments and houses that have no yard. On the other hand, in kennels and chains, these dogs become aggressive. These determined, pain-tolerant dogs are also unstoppable, even with electronic fences. They should not be outdoors all the time, either, as these dogs will also need some time at home with the family— something they certainly enjoy.
As with all breeds, teaching kids the proper way of approaching the Kuvasz is necessary. Supervise every interaction between them to keep kids from pulling your dog's tail, as well as your dog from biting the children.
