If you own a donkey then you may know that they don’t always enjoy being in the cold or wet weather especially if they aren’t adequately protected with a blanket or some sort of shelter. This is why it’s important to make sure your donkey has a stall or run in shed to seek shelter from the elements. A blanket will also work. It’s important not to over blanket your donkey, though. Just because you’re cold and need a jacket it doesn’t mean your donkey is cold and needs a blanket. A donkey instinctively knows when the weather changes and his coat can react accordingly. The hairs on his body stick up and become fuller to provide warmth when needed. To find out if your donkey is really cold simply feel his ears, chest, and stomach areas. If these areas are cold then your donkey may need a blanket. Click here to learn more from your experienced animal hospital Wichita, KS.
