Accepting life changes is not always easy for people, what more for animals. Right? So, if there is a need for your dogs to have a change in their daily diet, slowly or gradually do it.
Do not surprise your dogs with a sudden change because you might get a negative result. Your dogs may also suffer from an upset stomach, showing other symptoms such as vomiting, lack of appetite, or diarrhea.
Now, the next question is, how can you transition into a healthier diet? Introduce the new food one step at a time — covering a five- to seven-day period. What does this mean? You try to mix the new food into your dogs’ current food little by little.
Here is a sample percentage:
Day 1: Your dogs’ meal should be composed of 75% current food and 25% new food
Day 3: 50% of the meal is a new food
Applying changes to your dogs’ daily meals may be challenging, but it can be done. You have to be patient since such a change will benefit your pups.
Do consult your veterinarian Washington DC before making any changes to your pet's diet.
