How To Deal With Your Pet Bird’s Behavior Problems

Some birds can exhibit behavioral problems. Here are some common behavior problems exhibited by pet birds.

  • Screeching – most birds like to scream loudly because this is their way of communicating with others. This method of communication dates back to the time when their ancestors roam in the wild. Unfortunately, some pet owners cannot stand the loud noise that the bird makes. So, they prefer to put the animal in a shelter

  • Biting – the bird’s beak is used to grab on to objects, including the human hand. Most owners would think that their pet bird is being aggressive when they bite, but this is simply not true

  • Territorial – birds tend to be territorial during the breeding season. The sex hormones are responsible for this behavior

  • Picking on feathers – sometimes, birds pick on their feathers to cope with their emotional problems. This is also a manifestation of a health problem

  • Being destructive – birds are destructive when they feel bored or depressed. They can also act up to get attention.
