If you're thinking about getting a turtle or in the market for some new digs for your little buddy, it's important to know what to include in your turtle's living environment. Read on as a vet offers up some tips on what to put in your turtle's tank.
How to Set Up Your Turtle's Tank
1. First, you have to decide what kind of habitat you want to provide for your turtles. Do they need natural sunlight? Do they prefer artificial light? Are there any other factors that might affect the way they feel comfortable in their space?
2. Second, figure out how big your tank needs to be based on how many turtles are going into it. If you only have one turtle or two turtles, then a 10-gallon aquarium would probably be enough room for them. However, if you plan on having more than three or four turtles in one tank (which is actually not recommended), then you might need something larger—like a 55 or 75-gallon aquarium instead.
3. Thirdly, how often do you want/need to clean out their enclosure? Turtles require regular maintenance and should be given fresh water every day (or every other day).
That should be enough to get you started. If you have more questions or wish to schedule your turtle for a checkup, please don't hesitate to call your local veterinarians Oshawa, ON anytime!
