How Often Should Pet Cats Be Vaccinated ?

Maintaining your pet cat’s health is a top priority for cat owners. As part of pet care, you will want to protect your cat against different diseases through vaccinations. There are vaccines that need booster shots depending on your cat’s age and the vaccine type. There are the so-called “core vaccines” like the cat flu and rabies vaccines which are a necessity. Kittens should get their initial set of vaccinations at their 6th week of life and then the succeeding core vaccine booster shots every 3 years after each complete set. Pet cats that stay exclusively indoors typically require fewer vaccinations because they are not so likely to get some diseases compared to cats that brave the outdoors. If your cat is categorized to be “at-risk” then non-core booster shots should be administered for Bordetella, Chlamydia, or infectious peritonitis. These non-core vaccinations will be dependent on your veterinarian’s assessment and your cat’s health condition.

If you have any concerns about vaccines and vaccination, don’t hesitate to talk with your nearest veterinary clinic Webster NY.
