How Hot Is Too Hot To Walk Your Dog On Pavement?

The skin of your dogs is not too sensitive and is more durable than that of humans. Thanks to their paw pads, dogs can bear a few degrees of hot temperature. But, not too much. Your dogs also have feelings, and they also suffer from heatstroke or stress.

When the summer months arrive, ensure that your dogs are not exposed to the scorching heat. Do not walk them when it is too hot. But, when would you know if it is too hot for them?

* Gauge your pavement using your hand. Place it on the surface.

* If it is uncomfortable for you to leave your hand there for around 1 minute or 2, then your dog cannot bear it.

So, do not push through with your plan to walk your dog if it is that hot. Instead, you may walk your pup in the late evening or early morning when the sun is not too hot. You may also put socks or booties on your pup for added protection.

If your pet is showing signs of hyperthermia, contact your animal hospital Louisville, KY immediately.
