Lowchens aren't made to become kennel or outdoor dogs. As companion dogs, this breed prefers to be with its people. These dogs also enjoy barking, which makes them excellent watchdogs. However, this tendency may also disturb the neighbors. Lowchens can be excellent pets for apartment dwellers, provided that they get enough exercise. These dogs require daily exercise for 20 minutes. They would love to take long walks with you.
Lowchens do not shed a lot, but brushing/grooming routines are necessary to prevent mats and tangles, as well as to keep your pup in excellent health condition. Although not all Lowchens love to dig, some pups do, and it may be hard to take out of their digging habits.
If you want to have a healthy Lowchen, be sure to avoid puppy mills, pet stores, and irresponsible breeders. Instead, find reputable breeders who not only ensure that each pup has a sound temperament but clear the breeding dogs of any genetic disorder as well.
Your pet will benefit from regular health and wellness checks at your local animal hospital Ada, MI.
