Helping Your Cat Adjust After The Quarantine

With the pandemic, your pets have grown used to you spending your days at home. Having constant contact with your pet is a great luxury, but with life going to back its new normal pet owners have to get back to their routine of work or school.

Before the pandemic occurred, pet owners leave the home to work or go to school and their pets are accustomed to this routine. However, when the pandemic happened, most of the time is spent at home and your time and attention is spent on your pets. Any sudden changes in your pet’s schedule may be stressful for him or her. They may experience separation anxiety.

You must allow for a transition period to get your pets accustomed to you leaving. You can begin by leaving your home for short periods and monitoring your pet’s response. You can set up a camera to record your departure. If they’re acting okay, then you can increase the length of time to know when anxiety symptoms are present.

If you have concerns about your pet's health and/or behavior, make an appointment with your veterinarians Rochester NY.
