Guinea pigs do not typically blink their eyes like other animals nor do they close their eyes, even while they sleep. Keeping the eyes open almost all the time could dry out a guinea pig’s eyes, however, they have a special white secretion that is there to keep the eyes moist. Most guinea pigs have a milky white secretion that discharges routinely from the eye to keep it lubricated. There are several illnesses or conditions that can cause an injury or irritation to your guinea pig’s eyes. For example, one condition that may occur is Entropion. Entropion is when the eyelash turns and causes an irritation to the eye. The eye may turn a milky white and an ulcer may form. This milky white eye coloring is different from the milky white secretion that forms naturally.
