Your cat may have something irritating his ear or he could even have an ear infection. Some cats like the Maine Coon have even been known to have ear mites. Ear mites are tiny crab-like parasites that are often found in the outer ear or ear canal. Although there are several different types of mites, the most commonly found ear mite in cats is the Otodectes Cynotis. Other symptoms of ear mites could include dried blood in the ear, white dots in the ear (these are the mites), loss of balance, flattened ears or an odor coming from the ears.
