Degus are rodents who are fun, energetic, and sociable animals. When housed with other degus, they sometimes exhibit aggressive behavior by biting the nails of other degus and running after each other. However, this is not always something to be of concern because degus enjoy play fights, and it is common when there are other degus around in the same enclosure of adequate size when one wants to display dominance over the other.
There is a notable difference between play fights and hostility that should be carefully observed since there are circumstances in which these rodents do not work well together and should be housed in separate spaces. Otherwise, one will come out with injuries that would not have happened if it was only playing fighting.
