Do Cats Like the Siamese Breed Need Electrolytes ?

Did you know that electrolytes can be prescribed for cats that have been ill for a sustained period of time? For example, your vet may prescribe fluids or electrolytes if your Siamese cat’s electrolytes are off balance. A change in levels can be caused by prolonged vomiting, diarrhea, kidney disease, dehydration, or from FUS (Feline Urological Syndrome). Only your vet can determine whether or not your Siamese cat needs to have fluids replaced. In general, electrolytes are the positive or negative charged ions that circulate in your Siamese cat’s blood and other bodily fluids. Your vet can tell you that it’s important for your cat’s electrolyte levels to remain balanced. Signs that may indicate your Siamese cat’s electrolytes are not balanced include a change in breathing, a change in heart rate, muscle weakness, anxiety, depression, and sometimes lethargy. If your cat has any of these symptoms, call your animal hospital Rochester NY.
