Clipping Your Dog's Nails

Does your pooch make a clicking sound when he walks across the floor? If so, he may need a nail trim. It may not sound like overgrown nails are a big problem, but they actually are a bigger issue than many people think.

For one thing, if your pet's nails are too long, they'll start to cause discomfort, just as overgrown nails do with us. Your dog may adjust its stride to compensate. That puts a lot of strain on his bones and joints, which can be very detrimental. Long nails also make it hard for pups to gain good traction on slippery surfaces.

If you aren't sure how to clip your dog's nails, ask your vet for tips. You may find it easier to get a clipper with sensors, as these take the guesswork out of figuring out where to cut.

You can also set up an appointment at your vet Crown Point, IN for nail care.
