Clean Enclosures Help Prevent Illness In Pocket Pets

One of the most common reasons why pocket pets get sick is poor hygiene. When there’s an accumulation of ammonia from the urine in their enclosures, it can greatly damage the respiratory airways of your pocket pets which makes them more susceptible to other complications as well.

The enclosures or cages must be cleaned daily to take out all the wastes and food left. Make sure that they retain their cleanliness and the dry quality of the whole cage. Using mild bleach will help disinfect the whole cage during cleanups. Before putting on the fresh bedding, make sure the whole cage is dry. When the weather turns cold, you can place a towel-wrapped heating pad under the cage to provide warmth to the whole cage. The heating pad should be at a low-temperature setting. Consult your veterinarian Hendersonville, NC if you have any other concerns about your pet’s health and behavior.
