Did you know that dogs aren’t the only animals that can be trained as service animals? That’s right, other animals such as miniature horses, pigs and yes even cats have been trained to assistant individuals and professionals as services animals. Some individuals have found cats to make exceptional service animals. In particular, cats are being used as emotional support for individuals with physical or mental disabilities. As with dogs; however, cats should also receive proper training and certification to be classified as a genuine service animal. With that said, some cats are generally better at providing a service than others. One woman stated that with her physical disability she is unable to care for a service dog; however, cats are more independent.
