One good method of permanently identifying your pet cat is having her fitted with a microchip. It always stays on your cat and is quite unobtrusively tiny (as small as a grain of rice). The chip is painlessly injected beneath your cat’s skin, usually between her shoulder blades.
Every microchip has a unique identification number that could be scanned. The ID number will then get matched with your contact information stored in a database. Should you choose to have your cat microchipped, ensure that the database contact information is up to date. These microchips do not have GPS (global positioning systems) in them, therefore, they are not a means to track a lost pet. But they are treated as legal proof that you own your pet in case she gets stolen.
If you have concerns and/or questions about microchipping pets, don’t hesitate to discuss them with your veterinarian San Antonio TX.
