Originally, the Boxer dog was made to become a medium-sized guarding
dog. Today, the AKC recognizes them as part of the working group, and many
Boxer dogs also flourish in living at home with their family. Nevertheless,
owners shouldn't forget that the high energy of these dogs must be matched
with a lot of exercise.
These dogs are muscular and square-jawed and have great humor combined
with a sweet personality. They love their family but will also enjoy training,
minus the harsh reprimands.
Boxer dogs have large, muscular bodies and square heads. They may look
imposing, but upon getting to know them, they can actually be playful and
joyful. With their unlimited energy and playfulness, Boxers are dubbed as the
dog's counterpart of Peter Pan. These dogs enjoy puppyhood for so long, not
reaching full maturity until the age of 3.
