It's easy to love Malamutes with their outgoing and playful personality. They are loyal and greet anyone like a friend, so they generally aren't excellent watchdogs. Because they are pack animals, they enjoy being with the group and may insist on joining family activities. Although they don't bark a lot, Malamutes howl and "woo-woo" all the time.
Their temperament depends on heredity, socialization, and training, among many other factors. Nice pups are more playful and curious, enjoying being with everyone and getting held by people. It's best to adopt the average puppy— not the ones who tend to bully his littermates or shy away in a corner.
Meeting a dog before finally adopting him helps you know if he's nice or if you two are compatible. It'll also help to meet their siblings and other relatives first to get an overview of how he'll turn out to be. Of course, dogs from shelters/rescue centers are an exception.
